About Asset Management:

  • Foundationally Asset Management is all about the asset and its intended value.  It is about getting the ‘value’ that was originally envisioned during the asset purchase decision time frame: throughout the asset’s life-cycle.
  • We want to accomplish this optimal asset value while minimizing the operating (including fuel) costs and maintenance costs and working such that we mitigate the risk of safety or environmental issues.  During its’ operation: creating asset value requires an organizational ‘team effort’ from many stakeholders from your enterprise (not just the maintenance and operations folks!).

Asset Reliability focus on:

  • Energy “spend” (what do we spend on utilities?)
  • Asset availability (are we operating 7/24?)
  • Asset life (are we capital intensive?)
  • Production line speed/output (can we push through more volume with better asset performance?) (is there a market?)
  • Quality of output, i.e. rejects, rework, returns, loss, giveaway, shrinkage, yield, waste (i.e. what is the cost of poor quality?)
  • Warranty recoveries

Asset Production support focus on:

  • Operator/trades utilization & efficiency (are we labor intensive?)
  • Response time (how spread out are our facilities?) (can we automate or predict likely failures?)
  • Safety (what do we pay in workers comp?)
  • Spare parts inventory level/turns (are we inventorying the right spares to avoid catastrophic downtime?)
  • Inventory service level (are parts there when we need them?)
